If you are new here (WELCOME!!!)!👋My name is Janelle and I’m the Owner and Lead Planner of Blissfully Elegant Events! BE was built from a life long dream of Planning and Coordinating Weddings! I love making personal connections with my couples and walking with them through all of the steps to their wedding day! It is my pleasure to go above and beyond to ensure that you feel supported and like you have a wedding planning bestie by your side! (Note: I overuse exclamation points! 😆)

Here are some fun facts about me and BE:

🎀 I wrote my Business Plan at Cal Poly SLO on owning a Wedding Planning Company in SF (funny enough named “An Elegant Event”). Back then, I thought getting my start in the hotel industry would naturally springboard me into Wedding Planning 😆. While I did get a ton of Event and Sales experience, it is a very scary thing to leave your well paying 9-5 to start your own company.

🎀 In 2017, I was very fortunate to work with my friend as she started her wedding business so I could Lead Weddings on the weekends and still work my M-F day job.

🎀 As luck would have it, the pandemic would push me in the direction of finally living my dream (through SF Hotel layoffs 🙃).

🎀 With unending determination & the support of my Fiance (now husband) BE was officially born!

🎀 Three years ago today (1/27/22), my business application for Blissfully Elegant Events LLC was approved in the State of CA!

🎀 Fun Facts about me:

I ❤️ dogs! My Soul Dog, Sasha (the Morkie) is one of the loves of my life!

I ❤️ to cook & bake! Almost every week I bake a new recipe (it soothes me)

I got married on 10/21/23 and have 2 wonderful Stepkiddos

When I’m not working a wedding, you will find me binge watching shows, having a beer at a brewery, wine tasting, hanging with my family or traveling

I have been told I have a calming presence under pressure (must be residual from my lifeguard days in high school) ☺️

I have never been happier in my life now that I can help Couples Plan their dream Weddings and make sure their day is as stress free as possible! My passion is all things WEDDINGS!!!

It may be raining outside, but the memories of Allie & John’s Wine Country Wedding in Lodi are giving me the feels 🥹. It is truly something special when 38 of your loved ones fly across the country to live your Dream California Wedding (did I mention the Couple lives in Indianapolis)! Fun Fact: The Bride chopped her hair after the Ceremony for a fun surprise for her Groom & all of the Guests!!!

The Vendor Team worked hard to make sure everything was seamless and stress free all day long (how could we not for such a sweet couple). I never forget how lucky I am to work with all of my wonderful couples on one of their most important days…💕🫶🏻

Still dreaming about last weekend’s gorgeous Lodi Wedding! I get asked all the time by my Couples about Ceremony rules. Can both parents walk me down the aisle? Can I walk by myself? Can parents walk down the Aisle with Grooms? Can I stand on my better side (not the traditional side) while getting married? I always tell them “It’s YOUR Wedding! Make it YOUR day!”

You can absolutely tailor your day to your vision. If you want both parents to walk and support you down the aisle, do it! If you would like your Wedding party to sit during the ceremony, do it! There are no Rules that you have to follow. At the end of the day, your Wedding Ceremony should feel like you as a couple!

Let talk Mom’s attire at your Wedding…

I have had a few frantic calls lately from Brides stressed about how to handle what their Mom or their partner’s Mom wants to wear for their Wedding. Either Mom wants to wear black, red, short dress, patterns etc and you are terrified that her choice will look off for the overall aesthetic of the day. Depending on your relationship with your or your partner’s Mom, it may be a delicate situation.

You want your Mom to feel special on your Wedding day but this may be the first time she is shopping for a formal dress for this kind of occasion. See the slides to get some suggestions on how to approach finding Mom a dress.

Note: Let’s say worst case scenario happens and she chooses something you just don’t love and won’t change her mind, you will have to let it go (unless it is white or off white, those are non-negotiable). At a certain point, you just can’t worry about it anymore. She will be in a few photos but otherwise, it is your day and you can’t let something like a dress ruin it for you. It may drive you nuts, but is it worth your sanity? No. Take a deep breath and move on (as hard as it may be).

One thing I do remind my Brides is that you want Mom to feel comfortable. You want her to feel her best on the Wedding Day! Hopefully, she is open to some guidance and chooses a dress both of you love! Your day will be wonderful either way because you are marrying the love of your life!

Sneak peeks of our tour yesterday at my Couple’s VRBO for their September Wedding in Lodi! I CAN’T WAIT to see it in the Fall with all of the trees, flowers and vineyards all filled out! Just sitting here soaking my feet after last night’s Wedding and was curious how many steps I walked during my September Weddings. (October will be up there too)…more to come

I got the nicest compliment from the Venue Owner last night. He said “there are two kinds of Wedding Planners. A Clip Board Planner and a Proactive Planner. You are one of the best Proactive Planners I have worked with.” 🥹

When I get home (usually very late) from Weddings I am usually hunched over and can barely walk, but I LOVE MY JOB! This was my dream for so many years and it doesn’t feel like work to me because I am passionate about what I do. I love all the details leading up to the day and then seeing it all unfold. When I am breaking down the Wedding at the end of the night, I smile and think about how someone’s dream wedding just happened and I helped bring it to life. I only wish everyone got to live their dream like I am.

• Able to work long hours on your feet (usually 8-12 hours on Wedding Days)

• Able to lift at least 30lbs

• Reliable to arrive on time on days that they have agreed to

• Most Weddings are within an hour of Sacramento (needs to have their own car to get to and from Weddings)

• Able to take direction from Lead Planner and alert her to any issues that might need attention

• Able to snap some “behind the scenes” pics of set ups

• Weekend Availability (Friday-Sunday)

• Passionate to assist making people’s perfect Wedding Days go off without a hitch!

“I’m having a smaller wedding at a family member’s property, I don’t think I need a Month Of Coordinator”…I heard this recently on a Discovery Call and I can tell you, YOU DEFINITELY need a Coordinator!

There is sometimes a misconception that if your wedding is smaller, you do not need someone running the day. I can tell you from all of my years of experience that the size of the Wedding matters less than you would think. Are you still having a ceremony? Need to have a rehearsal? Hiring vendors that need a point of contact? Need someone to create a timeline for the day or a floor-plan? Are you having personal decor (gift and guestbook table, decor on guest tables, welcome signs)? Need someone to manage the day and make sure it goes smoothly (and handle any issues so you can relax and Enjoy Your Wedding)?!

You get where I’m going here. If you are having a wedding ESPECIALLY somewhere that is not a venue, you will need someone to guide you on all of the things that you might not be thinking about (potties? Parking?) Yes, guest count is important but most likely you have never done this before (🙋🏼‍♀️We have!)

You Said “Yes” to the Dress!!!

To some, finding your Wedding Dress is almost as important as finding the one you are going to marry (ok maybe not that important but still…pretty exciting 😆).

The day will most likely come when you have your dress in hand and have to go in for your Alterations Appointment. You get there and you have no idea what you should be asking. We are here to help!

1. How long with alterations take? Depending on what needs to be done to your dress, alterations can take weeks or longer. During your first fitting, it’s important to ask how much time they need based on the style of your dress. You might also want to find out how many other dresses they typically work on at a time.

2. How much will the alterations cost? If you can’t get an exactly number, the tailor should be able to give you an estimate based on the job. They might also be able to give you options that can save you money.

3. What is covered if the dress is damaged? We hate to think about it, but mistakes can happen. You will want to ask how they handle any problems that can arise.

4. How many fittings will you need? Seamstresses and Tailors are very busy during wedding season so it is smart to schedule all of your fittings in advance to you can stay on a schedule. If your dress has a lot of lace or illusion, you could need extra appointments.

5. Do they steam dresses? You can also check with the Shop you ordered the dress from to see if they provide this service.

6. What should you wear to fittings? You will want to bring the shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day and any undergarments so they can see how the dress falls.

7. How do you preserve your dress? They might have tips or even offer this service! It’s good to ask!
